Ever have one of these days where you simply don't feel like obtaining up and doing? Feeling quite blue and down in the dumps and would rather simply skip out on life than trouble?
Well, I am here to inform you that's precisely what you SHOULD do (and then some) in order to beat that feeling of "having the blues".
One amongst the most mood elevating things you'll do for yourself when you are having 'one of these days' is to induce up, get out and obtain a sensible workout in.
Yup, that is right. Do the exact opposite of what you FEEL like doing and you will virtually positively FEEL BETTER at the tip of it.
It's been proven time and time once more that working out gets your endorphins racing and increases levels of serotonin in your brain, which in turn elevates your mood.
So get outside (or stay inside at the gym if you need to, however I highly suggest getting fresh air for getting a smart mood on). Once you're there, START MOVING.
There's so many ways in which to get exercise that I can not even barely begin to list all here. But here's some suggestions:
You could choose a quick powerwalk, run or a bicycle ride. Rollerblading or cross-country skiing are sensible concepts too.
If you'll realize a lovely place to do your cardio, like a beach, a wooded path or a snowy mountaintop, that's going to help too. Who doesn't feel great at the beach, on a mountain or in the woods? It doesn't even must be a terribly long session to get that mood elevating effect. Twenty minutes ought to do the trick.
Or attempt lifting some weights or doing a little bodyweight exercises like squats, lunges and pushups if you do not have any formal strength coaching equipment.
You'll be able to even combine the cardio element and the strength training component by doing a little supercircuits with things like burpees and mountain climbers that get your heart racing but provide your muscles a pump at the same time.
Even swimming will be fun and get that body moving which heart rate up sufficiently. Do a few laps at the pool or down at the beach.
The trick here is to urge your respiratory and heart rate up, your blood pumping and your body moving. The harder you'll be able to get your body, heart and lungs heart working the better you're going to feel.
Heck use your imagination and get childish about it. Notice some fun things to do, ideally with kids or animals!! Run, jump, play fetch along with your dog, chase a Frisbee or jump through a sprinkler with your kids. Heck, head to the playground with them and climb the monkey bars, swing on the swings, go down the slide, push the carousel or just run amok.
It does not take long for a downer mood to turn into a wonderful mood once you get that body moving and those endorphins doing their job. Thus don't be a victim to the blues anymore. Get out there and do battle ... and feel BETTER!
