Craig's Scottish Judo Open Blog Thing: Part 5

Well, a week to go and I've not done anywhere near as much training as Id have liked. I got the cold last week and felt like crap for 4 days then got a really bad sore throat that meant I couldnt speak, great! After that went away I ate some prawns and gave myself a spot of food poisoning so I basically spent a week feeling sorry for myself.

I got back into training and went over on my ankle and, to use a technical term, it's fooked! It cracks every tme I take a step, it's constantly swolen and it hurts a lot. Theres not much I can do about it now so some tape shall applied and I'll just have to hope it behaves itself for the next few days training.

On the weight front things have gone incredibly well for a change, thankfully my food poisoning wasn't too bad and it didnt totally drain me. As of 10 minutes ago when I stepped on my scales I was 73.5kgs so just half a kilo to go really.

It's down to a combination of some fat burning pills (check out our sponsors at http://www.hallsupplements.co.uk/) and a high protein, low carb diet combined with the usual training.

If I'm honest my diet is usually pretty dodgy and involves lots of carbs so cutting them out has been a revelation. Ive definitely put on a noticeable amount of lean muscle in the past month without really trying to whilst dropping a good amount of body fat for an overall drop of 5.5kgs so far. At this rate I might actually make weight without having to bother with a sauna session which would be great.

The way the way in works is that it's on the day of the competition so dehydrating is pretty crappy as it only leaves you 2 hours to rehydrate which isnt anything like long enough. The test scales are open at 7.30am, weigh in open at 8am for an hour if I remember correctly and then the first weight categories are due to start at 10am.
