MMA Marketplace: DVDs to help you through the 'offseason'
Technically, MMA doesn't have an offseason. The UFC, WEC, Bellator and Strikeforce run fight cards all year, and there isn't often a stretch with no major, domestic events. That rare, fightless stretch is about to hit us. The UFC and WEC are off until Aug. 1, Bellator's next season starts Aug. 12, and Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal will defend his belt against Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante on a Strikeforce card on Aug. 21. Though Strikeforce has a Challengers event on July 23 and Dream will feature Shinya Aoki vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri on July 10, the next few weeks are uncharacteristically slow.Cagewriter is here to help you get your MMA fix. Start with Pride Fighting Championships' Bushido 9, which showcased Hayato "Mach" Sakurai, Jens Pulver, Dan Henderson, Ikuhisa Minowa and Paulo Filho, before the crazy hit him. Next, go to the Pride Light Heavyweight Grand Prix from 2003, where you will see many of the decade's best fighters in early form. If that's still not enough, buy the five-set DVD from Rumble on the Rock, where you will see 44 fights with everyone from Anderson Silva to Jake Shields to Gilbert Melendez. Finally, round out your DVD collection with UFC 79, the epic event with Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva's bout, a Matt Hughes-Georges St-Pierre rematch, and Lyoto Machida ruining Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou's UFC debut. anderson silva
